So today was the day of the Leadership Workshop. I must say this man, Gary Gribble, changed my life. The way he shared stories of his own band students was amazing. It's going to be hard deciding who is more crazy.. Scott Lang or Gribble. These men both go from state to state doing workshops all over the nation.
Walking into the band room today, you could just feel the excited tension in the air. Of course everyone trying out for the Leadership team was there, plus some extras. I'm really hoping everyone was moved by Gribble as much as I was. He shared a story with us about one of his former students and by the end I could feel tears in my eyes.
See, I want to be someone like that. Someone who could move a crowd, make people walk away more passionate then before they came.
I swear, I hope someday my kid is like a mixture of Gary Gribble, Scott Lang, and Larry Livingston.
You may ask who Larry Livingston is. He is hands down a mad genius, but you know... in a good way. Livingston came to Wando's Symphonic Camp earlier this year and I was just truly moved. I've never met anyone else on the face of this earth more passionate than this man.
